Lubang Island

Welcome to Lubang, Cabra and Ambil Islands

These are the many isolated islands of the Philippines.

These 3 islands lie in Occidental Mindoro.

Travelling here is not easy, but worth it.

My friends plan this itinerary.
They coordinated it with a local tourism officer who happens to be our friend, too.

You may send me an email for inquiries.

The port of Calatagan
The jump off point to Lubang Island.

It will take 4 hours from Manila to Batangas.
There are a lot Calatagan, Batangas bound buses from Cubao.

Then, another 4 hours boat ride from Calatagan to Lubang island.
Please be advised that this is a helluva boat ride.

If you plan to travel alone, you may check this detailed itinerary:
How to get to Lubang Island, alone

Our budget was P4000, each; with 10 of us.

We rented a big boat to get us to this Lubang and back to Calatagan.

The port of Lubang Island.

From here, we rented a jeepney to get us around the island.

This island is serene; people are warm and friendly,
with its zero crime rate.

We passed in the local tourism office to register
and meet our tour guide.

Our first destination is the Onoda Trail and Caves.

It is a historical place as there was a Japanese soldier who lived and hid in this place
for almost 30 years.
He never believed that World War II ended,
until the Japanese government sent his senior which is now a shoe maker.

There are 4 caves in this trail.

The trek will take 30-45 minutes depending on your speed.
You will go through the wood passing the small river.

After which, we continue to Protacio Beach Resort.

We set up our tent here and asked them to cook for us.

There is a water source and the restrooms are clean.

This may help you of your inquiry.

As we light this banana cake.. we celebrate our friend's birthday.

Happy birthday Drew!
Cheers to good life ♥

Good morning, Lubang Island :)

It's time for our pictorial of our cowgirl costume: our travel theme.

With our cowboys on this ranch in the beach.

We requested the resort to prepare a breakfast and dinner for us.

It's time to explore the Cabra Island.

We rented a small outrigger boat to get us to this other island.
It will take 20 minutes.

The waves are even stronger and higher than our banka.

Welcome to Cabra Island!

The lighthouse is located in the center of this peaceful island.

We rented a trike to get us to the place.
It will take  about 5 to 10 minute to reach this rice field.

There are no people wandering around.. just some pig and cows.

The pigs have this wood on their head to prevent them entering the rice field
and the vegetable garden of its neighbourhood.

To let them roam freely... in this serene island of Cabra.

The rice field in its corn blend during the harvest season.

After which, we return to Lubang Island.

We had our bountiful lunch and prepared to go back to port.

The rented jeepney arrived on schedule.

But, the waves are too strong that we did not cross the border before noon.

We were stranded in the middle of the ocean.

We have no choice but to stay for a night on another island
and decided to travel the next day.

While our boatmen were busy and worried...
my friends who already jump out of the boat.

Welcome to the Paradise!

of Ambil Island ♥

It's  breath-taking.

Words couldn't describe how awesome this island.

This is the private side of the island.

At that time, our friend is the manager.

We asked him if we could stay for 1 night and he agreed.
There is a fishing village on the other side of the island.

We set up our tent and asked the guards to buy us food.

The next day, we packed up and go back to the mainland.

When we return to the mainland, our dear friend who is a Batangas tourism officer,
invited us for a short stay for snorkelling and beach bum.
